The manufacturer, whose main concern is to maintain a prevalence of the coupling reaction over the two others, i.e., a sufficiently fast coupling rate, achieves his end by combining the reactants at the exact moment of interaction (turbulence). Suitable equipment, such as a mixing nozzle or a static mixing tube, is therefore indispensable for a continuous operation but it is on the other hand quite successful in helping to avoid side reactions. [Pg.206]

Almost every kind of holding or contacting equipment has been used as a chemical reactor at some time, from mixing nozzles and centrifugal pumps to the most elaborate towers and tube assemblies. This section is devoted to the general characteristics of the main kinds of reactors, and also provides a gallery of selected examples of working reactors. [Pg.567]

According to its working principles, the nozzle shown in Fig. 7.5 should be classified as a three-flow internal-external mixing nozzle Berman and co-workers called it a complete external mixing type . [Pg.164]

Often, to prepare for work requiring only a small amount of material, it is convenient to draw the appropriate weights or volumes of the two components from the containers into a suitable disposable cup, then to mix and apply to the substrates by a method appropriate for the viscosity of the mixture. If the scale warrants it is preferable to use application equipment designed for the purpose, in which the components may be extruded as necessary from twin reservoirs through a suitable static mixing nozzle and then to the substrate. It is possible to obtain for this work applicator guns with dual pistons, operated either by hand or by pneumatic pressure. Alternatively, for production on a very large... [Pg.101]

Instantaneous precipitation is achieved by two methods. The first consists in pouring continuously, in constant proportion, both solutions into a vessel under constant and vigorous stirring. The second consists in mixing the solutions through specially designed mixing nozzles. The latter method ensures a better uniformity in composition and texture of the precipitate. [Pg.548]

A fast-mixing nozzle in an FT microwave spectrometer was used to measure rotational constants, centrifugal distortion constants, Cl-nuclear quadrupole- and spin-rotational coupling constants for the isotopomers (CH2)2S- C1F and (CH2)2S- C1F <1996CPL119>. The complex, with symmetry, has an arrangement of the S-CIF nuclei that is about 3.5° off collinearity. The Cl-F axis makes an angle of 95° with thiirane s C-2 axis. [Pg.315]
