Honeycomb Mixers

Mayer et al. [43] used an electrically heated micro heat exchanger, a micro mixer and a honeycomb reactor, all developed by Karlsruhe Research Center (Forschungs-zentrum Karlsruhe), for the partial oxidation of methane ... [Pg.308]

In labyrinth or honeycomb flocculators (static mixers) the head loss has to be measured experimentally with a prototype module in a test rig. Then equation 4.57 can be used to calculate the power dissipation and, hence, the mean velocity gradient G. [Pg.152]

A number of different static mixers have been described together with the pressure losses which vary over a wide range between the highest and lowest [1]. Smith divided commercial static mixers into two categories of helical mixers and honeycomb packings [2]. [Pg.197]

Honeycomb Mixers Those that provide flow re-arrangement with a packing allowing multiple open channels of flow. [Pg.198]

A compressor provided dry air, which was preheated and mixed with propane (Grade 3.5 purity) in two sequential static mixers. The preheated propane/air mixture was driven into the reactor through a 50-mm long inert rectangular honeycomb section that provided a uniform inlet velocity profile. The reactor inlet temperature was monitored with a thermocouple placed downstream of the honeycomb section. The high-pressure vessel was fitted with two 350-mm long and 35-mm thick quartz windows (see Fig. 2.2) which maintained optical accessibility from both reactor sides. Two additional quartz windows located at the exhaust section of the vessel and the reactor outlet provided a counterflow optical access for the LIF experiments. Apart from propane/air, experiments with propane/ air/oxygen mixtures have also been carried out... [Pg.16]
