Misalignment

Elimination of the inaccuracy due to misalignment of cross sectional images ... [Pg.217]

The surface noise is clearly visible, masking small flaw signal. This is the price paid by using a long excitation. This noise produces at the same time, an evolution of the thickness of the tube and of the lift-off, a misalignement and a miscentring of the... [Pg.359]

During testing a depth resolution of 50-80 micron and a lateral resolution of 20-40 micron was achieved. The spatial resolution was limited not mainly hy source or camera properties, but by the accuracy of compensation of the instrumental errors in the object movements and misalignments. According to this results a mote precision object rotation system and mote stable specimen holding can do further improvements in the space resolution of microlaminography. [Pg.572]

However, with ultrasonic technique the signal level of the reflected echo pattern is also influenced by the geometrical shape, and misalignment between measuring direction and radial direction. Therefore, the practical demand for guidance must be found by experiments. [Pg.896]

Other problems affecting cyclone efficiency are usually caused by abuse or poor maintenance. Problems may arise from temperature warpage, rough interior surfaces, overlapping plates and rough welds, or misalignment of parts, such as an uncentered (or cocked) vortex oudet in the barrel. [Pg.397]

The disadvantages of this method ate the need for a torque meter, longer total length of the pumping unit, and greater susceptibiUty to misalignment and vibrations. This method is used only at a manufacturer s test faciUties or research laboratories. It is not used in the field. [Pg.289]

Disk Coupling. Diaphragms are used to transmit torque between the iaside and outside diameters of the flexible element ia disk coupling (Fig. 14b). Up to 0.1-mm (0.004-ia.) parallel misalignment can usually be tolerated. Whereas no oil lubrication is required as compared to gear couplings, disks ate limited to moderate torques. [Pg.299]

Grid-Type Couplings. Another type of flexible couplings, similar to disk couplings, is the grid type (Fig. 14c). These are appHed for moderate loads and allow parallel misalignment up to 0.1 mm (0.005 ia.). Lubrication is also requited. [Pg.299]

Whenever the process machine operates at the same speed as its driver, the two can be directly coupled. This direct couphng stiU allows for a variable speed, through acuustments of the speed or the driver. Steam turbine speed can be easily adjusted, and electric motor speed can also be varied by the use of special drives that vaiw the frequency of the power applied to the motor. Wdiether the speed is fixed or variable, direci coupling of two machine shafts presents the problem of accommodation of misalignment. To this purpose, machines are coupled through a.flexible coupling. [Pg.2535]

The load is now transmitted through ordinary couplings, one half mounted on the motor shaft and the other half on the driven shaft. They are bolted together with a rubber pad between the two. The motor and the driven machine are mounted on a common bed (Figure 8.2). They are now able to provide margin for misalignment of the two shaft ends and thus extend more flexibility. [Pg.197]

Misalignment, causing friction and excessive axial forces... [Pg.238]

For creaking and harsh noises, check for misalignment and belt tension. [Pg.239]

Misalignment causes vibrations, which may eventually lead to failure. The vibrations may also cause cracks between the rotor bars and the end rings. [Pg.242]

It is possible that during the fault only one ot the insulators is subject to the transitory first peak of the fault, as there may be slight misalignment between the insulators, asymmetry in the busbars, an imperfect bolt fixing and their fastening, or a combination of such factors. To be on the safe side it is advisable to consider each support and its fasteners to be suitable to withstand the forces by themselves. We have assumed a factor of safety of 100% in all the above calculations to account for this. [Pg.899]

Misalignment of insulators may cause an unequal distribution of forces. [Pg.905]
