In iadustrial production of titanium carbide, pure (99.8%, with minor impurities of Si, Fe, S, P, and alkahes) titanium oxide [13463-67-7] Ti02, iu the dry or wet state is mixed iu 68.5 31.5 ratio with carbon black or finely milled low ash graphite. Fig. 4.3 shows the design of this vibratory mill. It is constructed with horizontal position of the milling jars with the tube form. They are rigidly fixed on carriers and move together with them along the circle trajectory in a plane perpendicular to the axes of jars the jars do not rotate along their own axes their orientation in the vertical plane remains unchanged. 

Black Liquor from Soda-pulp Mills.—One ton of pulp will produce about 3,300 gal. of 5 deg. liquor, and this is concentrated to 35 deg. in multiple-effect evaporators of the horizontal and film type, with a capacity of from 2 to 2K gal. per square foot, according to the steam pressure, which will be from 10 to 25 lb., with a vacuum of from 27 to 28 in. Special construction and separators are necessary on account of the excessive foaming. Evaporators must have cast-iron or steel shells with wrought-iron or steel tubes, as the liquors are strongly alkaline. 

TUBE MILL. One of the oldest practical pulverizers is the tube mill, in which a charge of mixed-size forged-steel balls in a horizontally snpported grinding cylinder is activated by gravity as the cylinder is rotated. The coal is pnlverized by attrition and impact as the ball charge ascends and falls within the coal.
