Mill centrifuges

For fine grinding of limestone for paper and pottery manufaeturing, respectively, bead mills are widely used. The beads of steel, glass, or eeramic have a diameter of 0.2. 3mm and occupy up to 90% of the total mill volume (cp < 0.9). They are kept in motion by perforated stirrer dises while the liquid/solid suspension is pumped through the mill chamber. Mill types frequently used are the stirred disc mill, centrifugal fluidized bed mill, and ring gap mill. [Pg.51]

Mill types frequently in use are the stirred disc mill, centrifugal fluized bed mill, and annular gap mill. [Pg.130]

The product stream from the kilns is collected in storage bins. Black ash from the bins is fine-ground in a ball mill and fed to a leacher circuit, which is a system of stirred tanks, where it is dissolved in water and the muds are separated by countercurrent decantation. The solution from the decantation is passed through filter presses the muds are washed, centrifuged, and discarded. The filtered product, a saturated solution containing 12—13 wt % strontium sulfide, is sent to an agitation tank where soda ash is added to cause precipitation of strontium carbonate crystals ... [Pg.474]

Boric acid crystals are usually separated from aqueous slurries by centrifugation and dried in rotary driers heated indirecdy by warm air. To avoid overdrying, the product temperature should not exceed 50°C. Powdered and impalpable bode acid are produced by milling the crystalline matedal. [Pg.194]

Etibank is the sole producer of boron minerals and derivatives in Turkey, which is second in production only to the United States. The open-pit Kirka mine in the Eskisehir Province is the only source of Turkish sodium borate ore. A tincal concentrate is produced from ore that has been blasted and carried in tmcks to the concentration plant. The ore is screened and cmshed to reduce it to —100 mm and then hammer milled to —25 mm. The stockpiled material is further milled and screened to 6 mm. A fraction of +1 mm (+18 mesh, U.S. Standard) is washed and classified to remove fine clay. Clay is removed from the —1 mm faction bypassing it through cyclones and then through a classifier. This material is centrifuged and combined with the washed + 1 mm faction to produce a final product which is a —6 mm concentrate having 6—8 wt % moisture and 32% 2 3 1987 production was... [Pg.201]

Addition of NaCl decreases the solubiHty of Ca(OCl)2 in equiHbrium with the dibasic salt and lime. The dibasic slurry is sent to a classifier. Finely suspended lime impurities are removed from the overheads yielding a clear Hquor, which is recycled to the lime slurry makeup. The bottoms from the classifier are chlorinated giving a slurry of Ca(OCl)2 2H20, which is centrifuged. The cake is mixed with strong, low salt NaOCl solution in a pug mill and... [Pg.470]

Recovery. The principal purpose of recovery is to remove nonproteinaceous material from the enzyme preparation. Enzyme yields vary, sometimes exceeding 75%. Most industrial enzymes are secreted by a microorganism, and the first recovery step is often the removal of whole cells and other particulate matter (19) by centrifugation (20) or filtration (21). In the case of ceU-bound enzymes, the harvested cells can be used as is or dismpted by physical (eg, bead mills, high pressure homogenizer) and/or chemical (eg, solvent, detergent, lysozyme [9001 -63-2] or other lytic enzyme) techniques (22). Enzymes can be extracted from dismpted microbial cells, and ground animal (trypsin) or plant (papain) material by dilute salt solutions or aqueous two-phase systems (23). [Pg.290]

The criterion bv which the baU action in mills of various sizes may be compared is the concept of critical speed. It is the theoretical speed at which the centrifugal force on a ball in contacl with the mill shell at the height of its path equals the force on it due to gravity ... [Pg.1850]

Planetary Ball Milling This is a method of increasing the gravitational force acting on balls in a ball mill. For example, refractoiy metals and carbides can be ground to 1 to 2.6 [Lm in 5 to 20 min in an apparatus capable of applying a centrifugal force of 10 to 50 G. [Dobrovol sldi, Poroshk. MetalL, 7(6), 1-7 (1967)]. [Pg.1857]

The Bradley pneumatic (air-swept type) Hercules mills Bradley Pulverizer Co.) are centrifug ring-roll-type pulverizing mills which can be fitted with either two or three rolls. These mills are suitable for the pulverization of many materials to produce as coarse as 98 percent minus-20 mesh to as fine as 99.5 percent minus-325 mesh. The size of the pulverized product can be varied by adjusting the fineness selector mounted on top of the mill. Capacities range from 225 kg/h (500 Ib/h) to 90 Mg/h (100 tons/h). When combined with the superfine Bradley IU 4C classifier, this mill can make a product finer than 11 [Lm. [Pg.1863]
