5 Migration from Food-Contact Rubbers and Some Tests [Pg.124]

Migration from a food contact rubber material into food (or into food simulants), is usually expressed in two ways, either as  [Pg.124]

And for both of these tests contact times , temperature and the size of contact area are all very important, where the first of these contact times are considerably small in the case of rubbers specifically (in the order of minutes or even shorter), which is very different if compared to plastics (weeks or more). [Pg.124]

There are also the classical German BgW tests , where there are three categories which are dependent on the time of contact of rubber with food  [Pg.124]

In fact, a number of different rubbers (such as NR, silicone, SBR) have been commonly used as teats for baby feeding bottles, where these migrations, in particular, the level of nitrosamines are of utmost importance. Several other references can he cited on the topic [23-25]. [Pg.125]
