Midazolam atorvastatin

Active components in grapefruit juice include furanocoumarins capable of inhibiting the metabolism of many drugs, including alprazolam, midazolam, atorvastatin, and cyclosporine. Such compounds may also enhance oral bioavallability by inhibiting drug transporters in the Gl tract responsible for intestinal efflux of drugs. [Pg.11]

Drugs that may affect pioglitazone include atorvastatin and ketoconazole. Drugs that may be affected by pioglitazone include atorvastatin, midazolam, nifedipine, and oral contraceptives. [Pg.331]

These two prehepatic systems have been shown to contribute to the limited oral bioavailability of many lipophilic drugs including cyclosporine [8], terfenadine [9], saquinavir [10], midazolam [11], tacrolimus [12], atorvastatin [13], and others. [Pg.113]

Midazolam is metabolized by CYP3A4, as is atorvastatin. In a matched-pair study the effects of long-term atorvastatin on the pharmacokinetics of midazolam 0.15 mg/kg intravenously as a single dose were studied in 14 patients undergoing general anesthesia for elective surgery (56). Atorvastatin significantly reduced the clearance of midazolam by 33% and increased the AUC by 40%. [Pg.423]

Modafinil is an inducer of the cytochrome P450 isoenzyme CYP3A4. The manufacturers therefore predict that it may reduce the levels of drugs that are CYP3A4 substrates. They specifically name the protease inhibitors, buspirone, calcium-channel blockers, ciclosporin, midazolam, and the statins [note that only some statins, namely atorvastatin, lovastatin and... [Pg.204]

Especially the inhibition or induction of cytochrome P450 subtype 3A4 (CYP 3A4) is clinically relevant, because a variety of active substances and food substances (e.g. grapefruit juice) are able to affect this enzyme. Substances inhibiting CYP 3A4 include ciclosporin, dihydropyridines, verapamil, midazolam, paclitaxel, simvastatin, lovastatin, atorvastatin, cimetidine, erythromycin, troleandomycin, ketoconazole (and other azoles). Substances inducing CYP 3A4 include steroids, rifampicin, phenobarbital and St John s wort. [Pg.336]
