Other publications with a sample treatment component of relevance are those by Burguera et al. (1995, Determination of iron and zinc by on-line microwave-assisted mineralization and flow-injection graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry) Torres et al. Consequently, we consider that the industrial scale technological management of microwave assisted chemical reaction is no compatible with batch reactors coupled with multimode applicators. Some typical processes with a systematic decrease of the dielectric losses of the concerned reactant, such as filtration and drying of mineral or pharmaceutical powders are compatible with multimode applicators. To our knowledge, the only industrial batch microwave device is the microwave variant of the Turbosphere ( all in one solution mixer/granulator/dryer designed by Moritz... 

The synthesis of oxygen-heterocycles by intermolecular reactions of a-TK with nucleophiles has received only limited attention. However, a-tosyloxy derivatives of several acetophenones have been prepared by brief exposure of neat HTIB/ketone mixtures to microwave (MW) radiation, and employed on mineral oxide surfaces for microwave-assisted syntheses of thiazoles and 2-aroylbenzofurans 40 (Scheme 11) (98JCS(P1)4093, 99JHC1565). 

Very recently, a novel microwave-assisted high-temperature UV digestion system for accelerated decomposition of dissolved organic compounds or slurries was developed [95, 96]. The technique is based on a closed, pressurized, microwave decomposition device wherein UV irradiation is generated by immersed electrodeless Cd discharge lamps (228 nm) operated by the microwave field in the oven cavity. The immersion system enables maximum reaction temperatures of up to 250-280 °C, resulting in a tremendous increase in mineralization efficiency.
