Microemulsions are not only useful in textile detergency, they are also applicable as media for the cleaning of other heavily oil soiled surfaces such as metals, polymers, ceramics, and other materials. Under these conditions, the composition has to be chosen so that it forms a homogeneous microemulsion only during the cleaning process by solubilizing the oily soil. [Pg.832]

Apart from obvious dry cleaning applications,potential applications of C02 based microemulsions indude (i) printed circuit board cleaning, (ii) extraction of contaminants firom soils, (in) cleaning of polymers, foams, aerogels, porous ceramics, and laser optics, (ivj regeneration of activated carbon beds or catalysts, and (v) the separation of dyestuffs from textiles. [Pg.107]
