Microbes and Substrates in MFC

Mediators play an important role in the process of electron transport, especially for those microbes which caimot transfer the electrons to the anodes. Mediators extract electrons from the microbes and then discharge them onto the anode surface. Hence, mediators shuttle between the bacteria and anode to maintain the electron transfer process.
