In this sub-subsection, the Er doping of amorphous silicon is discussed. The problem of limited solubility of Er in crystalline silicon has been circumvented. However, the electrical properties of pure a-Si are poor compared to c-Si. Therefore, hydrogenated amorphous silicon is much more interesting. Besides, the possibility of depositing a-Si H directly on substrates, i.e., optical materials, would make integration possible. Both low-pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD) [664] and PECVD [665, 666] have been used to make the a-Si H into which Er is implanted. In both methods oxygen is intentionally added to the material, to enhance the luminescence. [Pg.186]

At the USDA Forest Service, Forest Products Laboratory (FPL), Brenden and Chamberlain (6) examined the feasibility of measuring heat release rate from an ASTM E-119 furnace. Three methods of measuring heat release were considered the substitution method, oxygen consumption method, and weight of material/heat of combustion method. The oxygen consumption method was shown to be the most advantageous way to measure heat release. However, data were limited to a few assemblies. Chamberlain... [Pg.411]

The lead content of biological samples is usually very small, rendering gravimetric methods impracticable, and methods have often relied upon the formation of coloured complexes with a variety of dyes. More recently, the development of absorption spectroscopy using vaporized samples has provided a sensitive quantitative method. Oxygen measurements using specific electrodes offer a level of sensitivity which is unobtainable using volumetric gas analysis. [Pg.2]

Elemental composition Mg 60.32%, O 39.68%. The oxide can be identified nondestructively by x-ray methods. Oxygen content may be determined by elemental microanalysis. Magnesium may be analyzed by AA or ICP following dissolution of the oxide in nitric acid and appropriate dilution with water. [Pg.531]

Elemental Analyses. Carbon, hydrogen, and sulfur were determined gravi-metrically as carbon dioxide, water, and barium sulfate, respectively. Nitrogen was determined by a micro-Dumas method. Oxygen was determined by difference. [Pg.126]

A one-pot method oxygen involving molecular oxygen in the presence of diethylzinc and (i ,i )- -methylpseudo-ephedrine enables an asymmetric epoxidation of enones in high yields and ee s <1996AGE1725>. [Pg.209]

Other major shale constituents such as C, H, N, and S are determined by thermal decomposition and instrumental detection methods. Oxygen is determined by 14 MeV neutron activation analysis. Parr or Leco BTU bomb combustion and subsequent ion chromatographic determination is used for halogens, sulfate and nitrate. Ion chromatography is also suitable for anionic characterization of shale process waters. Two analytical procedures for oil shales should be used with caution. Kjeldahl nitrogen procedure has been found to give reproducible but considerably low results for certain oil... [Pg.478]

OCM catalytic properties of R-based mixed oxide ceramic membranes appeared to be determined by the synthesis method, oxygen permeation from one side to the other, surface composition, and the electronic conduction mechanism. [Pg.106]

As another method, oxygen can fuse to make silicon 28, which can fuse with He to make the sulfur 32 isotope ... [Pg.143]

Winkler s method or electrometric method (oxygen meter). [Pg.763]

Manometric Method - Oxygen from Airspace above Sample... [Pg.5079]

Interimpeller spacing = r. Dynamic step pressure method— oxygen used as the solute... [Pg.171]

However, the activity of VF with this catalyst system is much lower than that of vinyl chloride. A pol5nnerization at low temperature and pressure utilized a triisobutyl boron catalyst activated by oxygen (82). In a similar method, oxygen was replaced by hydrogen peroxide, and polymerization was carried out in water... [Pg.8979]

Oxygen content The presence of oxygen is highly detrimental to the integrity of the polymer solution. The water used for the polymer dissolution must be deoxygenated. Method oxygen probe. [Pg.351]
