Methocarbamol Alcohol

Where pain is worsened by muscle spasm, oral muscle relaxants may serve as a useful adjunct to therapy.25 These agents include baclofen, metaxalone, methocarbamol, carisoprodol, and cyclobenzaprine. Muscle relaxants may decrease spasm and stiffness associated with either acute or chronic musculoskeletal disorders. These agents should be used with caution because they all may cause sedation, especially in combination with alcohol or narcotic analgesics. [Pg.906]

Nefazodone, like the SSRIs and venlafaxine, has negligible effect on Na ion fast channels and therefore does not slow intracardiac conduction. As a result, during clinical trials development, patients survived drug overdoses exceeding 11,200 mg without the need for any intervention beyond observation and routine nursing care (146, 451). One nonstudy patient who took 2,000 to 3,000 mg of nefazodone with methocarbamol and alcohol experienced a seizure (type not documented) but otherwise recovered uneventfully. [Pg.150]

BACLOFEN, METHOCARBAMOL, TIZANIDINE ALCOHOL t sedation Additive effect Warn patients advise them to drink alcohol only in moderation and not to drive if they have drunk any alcohol and are taking these muscle relaxants... [Pg.489]

In a fatality due to ingestion of methocarbamol and alcohol, the following postmortem tissue concentrations were reported blood, methocarbamol 525 pg/ml, alcohol 1400 pg/ml, salicylate 20 pg/ml urine, methocarbamol 575 pg/ml (M. Kemalc ai, J.forens. Sci., 1982, 27, 217-222). [Pg.753]

A. Methocarbamol produces additive sedation with alcohol and other central nervous system depressants. [Pg.466]

Three reported cases of overdosage with methocarbamol and alcohol resulted in death due to combined CNS depression. Concurrent use of small or moderate amounts of alcohol with muscle relaxants may increase drowsiness and reduce alertness. [Pg.70]

Limited information is available on the acute toxicity of methocarbamol. Overdose of methocarbamol has been reported in conjunction with alcohol, psychotropic drugs, or other CNS depressants and includes the following symptoms nausea, drowsiness, blurred vision, hypotension, seizures, coma, and death. [Pg.369]
