Metals light alloys

Leicht-metall, n. light metal (of sp. gr. less than 5 sometimes, specif., an alkali or alkaline-earth metal) light alloy, -dl, n. light oil. leicht-schmelzbar, a. easily fusible, -schmel-zend, -schmelzlich, a. low-melting, -siedend a. low-boiling. 

ALKALI-METAL ALLOYS, ALKALI METALS DEVARDA S ALLOY, FERROALLOY POWDERS FINELY DIVIDED METALS, LANTHANIDE METALS LIGHT ALLOYS, METAL DUSTS METAL FIRES, MILD STEEL... 

Their theoretical description is both stationary and coplanar. The nature of galvanic coupling in the case of localized corrosion of passivating metals (light alloys, stainless steels) takes on properties that differ depending on whether initiation (transient) or propagation phenomena (stationary) are under consideration. On the other hand, in real case of corrosion, and depending on the measurement techniques employed, description should take into account the dependence of these relations with time or freqnency and should consider the dimensional aspect of current and potential distributions as well. 

Besides large-diameter pipes, ultrasonic testing is used for checking the welded joints of drill bits, components of wind-driven electric plants, welded joints of light alloys and non-metallic materials, for an integrated inspection of various objects. A range of training aids developed at the Institute allows the operators to be trained effectively. 

About 65% of the lithium is used as a ceU-bath additive in aluminum production and in ceramics and glass. Lithium batteries enjoy increasing popularity leading to steady growth in this market. Other uses are in lubricants and synthetic mbber (46). Since lithium is a light, strong metal, it finds apphcations in aerospace metals and alloys where a light metal is needed (see Lithiumand lithium compounds). 

In the light of what has been said above, little further explanation of the implications of the title of the present work is required. Its treatment of the subject of corrosion will centre round the control of the environmental interactions of metals and alloys used as materials of construction.

The above techniques are not satisfactory for solid sample containing light fractions that will be lost if exposed to ambient conditions of pressure and temperature. Samples like these can best be handled by cooling the sample and encapsulating them in small sealed metal—fusible alloy—containers (capsules) or glass capillaries. The metal must have a low melting point.
