Meta-analysis result prediction

A meta-analysis of 579 patients with severe psoriasis treated with either 2.5 or 5 mg/kg per day of cyclosporine for 10 to 12 weeks found that the PASI decreased by 70% and 72%, respectively. An oral microemulsion formulation of cyclosporine has shown a better pharmacokinetic profile, resulting in a more consistent and predictable rate of absorption than the original formulation. ... 

The evidence of a time factor of concurrent chemo-radiation remains a controversial issue. A randomized clinical trial in patients with limited disease small cell lung cancer (SCLC) treated with chemoradiation demonstrated a significantly higher local tumour control when OTT was reduced from 33 to 19 days (Turrisi etal. 1999). A meta-analysis of four randomized clinical trials in patients with Umited disease SCLC revealed that OTT is the most important predictive factor for outcome after chemoradiation (De Ruysscher etal. 2006). In contrast to the results of this meta-analysis. 

The second section covers the largest and most comprehensive hydrocarbon flash fire burn series ever conducted at an independent lab. This testing ran for 4 years atthe University of Alberta, and involved several hundred flash fires. An instrumented manikin predicted extent, severity and location of any resultant body burn injury, allowing detailed analysis of protective performance. Most major FR fabric types and weights were examined at multiple exposure levels, including meta-aramids, meta-aramid/rayon blends, FR cottons, FR cotton/polyamide blends. Polybenzimidazole and its blends with para-aramid and para-aramid/rayon, disposables, outerwear, and more. Extensive video coverage accompanies the data, and post-exposure garment samples will be shown as well. 

More recently, information on the sequence distribution has been obtained by NMR techniques (Mochel and Johnson, 1%9) based on the relative shifting of two peaks attributed respectively to the (meta + para) protons and to the ortho protons on the styrene ring, and to the subsequent use of curve analysis techniques using an analogue computer. The results obtained were found to agree well with those predicted from data on monomer reactivity ratios. 

Analysis of the spectra of the HABI and quinone initiators predicted that better images would result if a HABI could be employed that showed more absorption in the 360 nm region, where 9,10-phenanthrenequinone had little absorption. R.L. Cohen was given this task. He identified CDM-HABI as a possible candidate. The substitution of a meta-methoxy functions on the 4- and 5-phenyl rings shifted the spectrum so as to separate the quinone and HABI peaks further apart.
