Terretonins are meroditerpenoid mycotoxins isolated from the terrestrial species Aspergillus terreus (Springer et al., 1979 Li et al., 2005). The two new terretonins E and F were found in the marine-derived fungus Aspergillus insue-tus associated with the Mediterranean sponge Petrosia ficiformis. Both are inhibitors of the mammalian mitochondrial respiratory chain (Lopez-Gresa et al, 2009).
