Melt refining

Electrical systems used exclusively to supply industrial electric furnaces for melting, refining, tempering, and the like...

In the USA, approximately 10% of nickel that is consumed per year undergoes recycling. Nickel-bearing materials, mostly from the steel industry, are melted, refined, and used to prepare alloys similar in composition to those that enter the recycling process. 

All of the polymer has melted and gone over the barrier flight. Melt refinement can continue In the metering section. In some cases mixing ssections are also included downstream of the barrier section. In general, the melted plastic is already fairly uniform upon exit from the barrier section. 

The high vapor pressure of metallic mercury is the main reason for the occupational burden, wherever mercury is mined, melted, refined, treated, or recycled [2]. Especially dangerous are the production and treatment of highly toxic organomercury compounds such as methylmercury [14],...

Working melts were prepared in several steps. Reagent quality sodium and potassium chlorides were dried in a silica cell at 300 °C for 3 h. Then the salts were melted, sparged with a mixture of chlorine and hydrogen chloride for 5h and subsequently kept under vacuum for 1.5h. Prepared in such a way, individual chlorides were subjected to zone melting refining (8-10 times). The equimolar mixture of sodium and potassium chlorides was prepared by fusing purified individual salts.
