CXCL12, while the survival of similarly treated Nfl astrocytes was enhanced. Thus the growth-promoting effects of CXCL12 involve increased survival in low and high-grade astrocytomas as well as medulloblastoma.

In medulloblastoma tumors in humans, misregulation of H3K9 methylation is implicated as a carcinogenic event with L3MBTL3 possibly serving as a tumor suppressor as evidenced by its deletion in some medulloblastoma cell lines [21].

A 13-year-old girl, who had previously had surgery and radiotherapy for a medulloblastoma, developed atypical absence seizures for the first time after 3 months of therapy with leuprorelin. The seizures stopped 1 month after treatment was withdrawn and did not recur until 30 months later. The seizures were not related to estradiol concentrations or the menstrual cycle.

Intrathecal colloidal gold has been used as an adjunct in the treatment of childhood neoplasms, including medulloblastoma and leukemia. Long-term follow-up of patients treated with intrathecal colloidal gold has been described and the high incidence of delayed cerebrovascular complications and their management has been emphasized (27). 

Co-administration of methotrexate and procarbazine in the treatment of medulloblastomas increases the risk of methotrexate nephrotoxicity. Delayed administration of methotrexate until 72 hours after procarbazine therapy has been given may reduce this risk (65).

Determination of specific binding of the labelled peptides to biological materials was carried out with D341 Med human medulloblastoma cells derived from a tumour biopsy from a patient with a cerebellar medulloblastoma, which expresses high levels of somatostatin receptors.
