Medicines Diclofenac

The obtained analytical forms are used for quantitative determination of both Diclofenac natrium and Ibuprofen content in medicinal forms as well as for the testing uniformity of batching of the basic substance in tableted forms. The relative standard deviation (RSD) were 3,7-4,6 % (n = 5 P = 0,95). 

Among pharmacenticals, EE2 has been the snbject of particular recent attention becanse of its ability to canse endocrine disrnption in fish, as has been described in Chapter 15. Low levels of mixtnres of beta blockers, such as propranolol, metoprol, and nadolol have been detected in snrface waters, and there have been investigations of their possible effects on aqnatic invertebrates (Huggett et al. 2002). Veterinary medicines, too, have come nnder scrntiny for example, the dramatic effects of diclofenac on vnltnres, which will be discnssed shortly. Many questions remain to be answered abont the possible ecological effects of complex mixtures of pharmaceuticals and veterinary medicines.

The evidence currently available on the antagonism of antiplatelet effects is insufficient to recommend that ibuprofen is not used with low-dose aspirin. Nevertheless, some have concluded that when patients taking low-dose aspirin for cardioprotection require long-term NSAIDs for inflammatory conditions, the use of diclofenac or naproxen would seem preferable to ibuprofen.A coxib was also suggested as an alternative,but the subsequent suggestion of an increased risk of serious cardiovascular effects with the coxibs (as a class ) probably precludes this. Recently the Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) in the UK has advised that there may be a small increased risk of thrombotic events with the non-selective NSAIDs, particularly when used at high doses and for long-term treatment. ... 

The manufacturers of other topical preparations Solaraze 3% w/w gel and Voltarol 1% w/w gel patch) state that interactions are not anticipated due to the low level of systemic absorption, although one manufacturer still warns not to administer concurrently, by either the topical or systemic route, any medicinal product containing diclofenac or other NSAIDs. ... 

For a standardised preparation the product file may be quite extensive. There is need for a more elaborate evaluation of the topics discussed above, and the product file should also include information on the validation of the preparation and on the stability and shelf life of the preparation. The product file of pharmacy preparations that are distributed on a relatively large scale should be the most extensive. The various topics of the product file in its most extensive form will be discussed in detail in the following subsections. At the end of each section an example of 12.5 mg diclofenac suppositories is used, assuming that diclofenac is not available in this strength as licensed medicine.
