Infra-red Spectrum. Principal peaks at wavenumbers 1111,1068, 1078, 1592, 1098, 890 (mecamylamine hydrochloride, Nujol mull). [Pg.722]

Mecamylamine hydrochloride is an antiadrenergic agent that has a potent ganglionic blocking property. It is indicated in the treatment of moderately severe to essential hypertension and uncomplicated malignant hypertension. Blockade of sympathetic ganglia interrupts adrenergic control of arterioles and results in vasodilation, improved peripheral blood flow in some vascular beds, and a fall in blood pressure. [Pg.404]

Such ganglionic blocking agents that interfere with the nervous transmission of sympathetic as well as para-sympathetic ganglia may include hexa-methonium bromide mecamylamine hydrochloride pempidine pentolinium tartrate, trimetaphan camsylate, etc. [Pg.427]

For successful application of this method strict attention to detail must be observed and the amount of impurity present should be at least OT per cent. In some cases the technique is sufficiently sensitive to distinguish between optical isomers. It has been used widely in the examination of amino acids and is specified in the U.S.P. for determining mecamylamine hydrochloride in the presence of isomeric material as follows ... [Pg.712]
