Mass Cake Deposited per Unit Area and Specific Resistance

1 Mass Cake Deposited per Unit Area and Specific Resistance [Pg.40]

A useful procedure which follows from Equation (2.7) is to multiply both the numerator and denominator by the product of solid concentration and density, and to rearrange the resulting equation to give  [Pg.40]

Equation (2.6) can also be multiplied by concentration and density to give  [Pg.40]

Note that A LCps is the mass of dry solids deposited in the cake, thus the above equation is the mass of dry solids per unit area of the filter, and is usually given the term w. [Pg.40]

The cake permeability, cake volume firaction concentration and solid density will all be constants for an jnconq ressible filter cake and can, therefore, be replaced by a single constant called specific resistance a which has units m kg  [Pg.40]
