Marking out

Marking out is the scratching of lines on the surface of a workpiece, known as scribing, and is usually carried out only on a single workpiece or a small number of workpieces. The two main purposes of marking out are

The favourable properties which mark out vesicles as protocell models were confirmed by computer simulation (Pohorill and Wilson, 1995). These researchers studied the molecular dynamics of simple membrane/water boundary layers the bilayer surface fluctuated in time and space. The model membrane consisted of glycerine-1-monooleate defects were present which allowed ion transport to occur, whereby negative ions passed through the bilayer more easily than positive ions. The membrane-water boundary layer should be particularly suited to reactions which are accelerated by heterogeneous catalysis. Thus, the authors believe that these vesicles fulfil almost all the conditions required for the first protocells on earth ... 

Proteins which are destined for degradation by the proteosome are first modified by the enzyme-catalysed attachment of numerous molecules of the protein ubiquitin, through amino groups to the protein targeted for degradation. This marks out the protein for ATP-dependent hydrolysis by the 26S proteosome, releasing peptides and ubiquitin... 

It is likewise deserving of particular notice, that the fate of individual sovereigns is often bound up and implicated, as it were, with the circumstances of national prosperity or affliction. The condition of him who is most eminent for his station is signally marked out for the illustration of the Divine judgments, while, at the same time, he is rendered instrumental to the reward or condemnation of his subjects, —to the blessings or calamities, to which they are exposed.

Sampling Procedure. A set of twenty-five sampling points was marked out on each plot on a rectangular 5x5 grid. The distance between points was thus 40.5m on the long axis of the grid and 20.2m between rows of points. Each sampling point was permanently identified by number. 

Using canes, mark out a grid to help you distribute the seed at the recommended rate, and scatter the seed evenly over the ground. 

Mark out a site large enough to accommodate the number of bushes you plan. Allow a spacing of 5-6 ft (1.5-1.8 m) apart. 

The course assessment is graded A, B, C or D depending on how well you do in the written examination and the Project Report, l.e. your total mark out of 130. To gain a course award you must also pass all aspects of the Internal assessment. 

The exam is marked out of 100, but in Advanced Higher Chemistry you also carry out a project. You have to write up a Project Report, which is marked externally by an SQA marker and is also quality assured by the SQA. The Project Report is worth 30 marks and so the total number of marks is 130. Your Project Report should be between 2000 and 3000 words long. You have to submit the word count with your Project Report - you should keep your word count to less than 3000 words or you may lose marks.

No discussion of team-working would be complete without a mention of the well-known Belbin team roles , already mentioned in Chapter 2 in the context of behaviour preferences, which seem to have dominated training in teamworking ever since the research defining them was published, Meredith Belbin (1981) identified characteristics that marked out successful and unsuccessful teams. Similarly, when rhombic red a-sulfur is heated above 100°C, it usually fails to exhibit the expected thermodynamic conversion to yellow /3-sulfur at 96°C. Instead, it persists as a superheated metastable phase up to 114°C (dashed line), where it exhibits an apparently normal melting point to the liquid form (unless extreme patience or a nucleating seed crystal of /3-sulfur is employed). The dashed lines in Fig. 7.5 therefore mark out metastable phase transition boundaries between forms of sulfur that are not true Gibbs free energy minima at the cited temperature and pressure (e.g., superheated a-sulfur and supercooled liquid sulfur at 114°C, 1 atm). The metastable phase domains can overlap stable phase domains in a quite complex and confusing manner. A kinetically facile metastable phase boundary will often appear more real and relevant to actual chemical phenomena than will the idealized boundary between (kinetically inaccessible) phases of lowest Gibbs free energy. 

The first idea that seems to be obvious is to make area zoning on the base of administrative division. Inside this zoning idea it s possible to mark out some groups settlement (population up to 10000 habitants) urban village (population 10000-50000 habitants) town (population 50000-500000 habitants) city (population more than 500000 habitants) city suburb city trail industrial area . Statistical analysis showed that small towns and towns should be united into one group as they have the same distribution of oxidation ability inside the groups.
