Lymphoproliferative malignancies occur in approximately 7% of patients with primary SjS, a prevalence that is 40 times higher than in the general population (192). MALT-type lymphomas of the lung (Fig. 9), also called BALT lymphomas, are extranodal marginal-zone B-cell neoplasms, not usually associated with viruses (192). BALT lymphoma is usually detected in routine or incidental examination. HRCT features are similar to those of patients without SjS (214). The course of the disease is quite indolent, even in cases with extensive or prominent HRCT abnormalities (214). [Pg.452]
