Manufacturing processes continuous casting

Bulk Polymerization. This is the method of choice for the manufacture of polytmethyl methacrylatel sheets, rods, and lubes, and molding and extrusion compounds Three bulk polymerization processes are commercially important lot the production of methacrylate polymers hatch cell casting, continuous casting, and continuous bulk polymerization. Approximately half the worldwide production of bulk polymerized methacrylates is in the form of molding and extrusion compounds, a quarter is in the form of cell east sheets, and a quarter is in the form of continuous cast sheets. 

Flat sheet membranes are generally manufactured on a casting machine, which is shown schematically in Figure 1.35. A polymer solution is cast by a casting knife on a polyester or polyethylene support paper, which is continuously supplied from a roll. The cast polymer film is fed to the precipitation bath, where the actual membrane is formed. After a certain residence time in a rinse bath, where residue solvent is removed, the membrane is collected as a flat sheet on the take up roll. The membranes, which are obtained as up to 2 m wide continuous sheets, are then further processed into the desired module configuration. 

For processing of polymeric materials and composites, a number of industrial microwave equipment manufacturers offer equipment for the production of continuous cast-resin components, in which the microwave unit (3.6 or 7.2kW) processes high-viscosity resin systems with flow rates up to 5.0 kg min" The control system provides easy integration into other and/or existing systems. Several furnaces can be switched in cascades to achieve an increase in temperature difference between feeding flow and drain flow and/or an increase in the flow quantity of the medium to be treated. The microwave flow heater is available, which can also be applied in other fields, for example, food, plastic, and chemical... 

The cathodes removed from the electrolytic cell are the primary product of the copper producer and contain >99.99% copper. These may be sold to wire-rod mills as cathodes or processed further to a product called rod. In manufacturing rod, cathodes are melted in a shaft furnace and the molten copper is poured onto a casting wheel to form a bar suitable for rolling into a 3/8-in.-diameter continuous rod. This rod product is shipped to wire mills, where it is extruded into various sizes of copper wire.
