Maintenance task, organization equipment

Modem industrial facilities usually are equipped with systems that form the foimdation for the second requirement. Historical inspection data, failure analysis reports, analytical chemistry records, databases of operational parameters, and maintenance management systems are usually in place. The main task, therefore, is one of combining and integrating corrosion data into these existing (computerized) systems. In many organizations, much of the technical infrastructure required for achieving corrosion process control is already in place. Only the addition of certain corrosion-specific elements to existing systems may be needed. [Pg.430]

Sometimes the persons performing a task can improve their capabilities. An example of this occurred at a medium-sized refinery. The operations manager noted that the organization spent many thousands of dollars on preventive maintenance and other reliability programs for their equipment, but did not invest at all in the fitness of their employees. So he installed a fitness work room at the refinery it was open to all employees. [Pg.168]

For more complex processes, the What If study is best organized through the use of customized checklists. Aspects of the process a re assigned to analysis team members with the greatest experience or skill in areas of concern. As a What-lf study could include but not be limited to audits of equipment operator practices and job knowledge, the suitability of equipment and materials of construction, the chemistry of the process and its control systems, and the operating and preventive maintenance records (Task Analysis Tools Used Throughout Development, Human Error Analysis, n.d.). [Pg.190]
