All patients should have a brain computed tomography scan or magnetic resonance imaging scan to differentiate an ischemic stroke from a hemorrhagic stroke, as the treatment...

Jane is shown to an examination room, and nurse draws blood from Jane and takes vital signs, which are captured into the clinical encounter record for Jane. Dr. Smith comes into the examination room and sees Jane and performs an ECG (electrocardiogram) test as well as a functional MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan for Jane s heart. 

Have you known someone who needed an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan for a medical condition, or have you needed one yourself Have you ever observed someone in an airport security line having their belongings wiped down with a pad which was then placed in some kind of analytical instrument Have you wondered how scientists determine the structures of compounds found in nature, or have you known a fellow student in a laboratory class who extracted bark, leaves, or fruit to isolate and identify some natural compounds Or have you wondered how forensic evidence is analyzed in criminal cases, or how pesticides are identified in food samples ... 

No abnormalities were noted in any of the computer-assisted tomography scans or magnetic resonance images, nor in the blood chemistry or hematology evaluations. No systemic effects of the implants were noted on histological examination of any of the tissues exaoiined. No unexpected or untoward reactions to the treatments were observed. 

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the head will reveal areas of ischemia earlier and with better resolution than a CT scan. Some types of imaging can reveal an evolving infarct within minutes.

Radiologic scans x-rays, computed tomographic (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron-emission tomography (PET)... 

Abnormal adrenal anatomy is effectively identified using high-resolution computed tomography scanning and perhaps magnetic resonance imaging. 

Abdominal radiographs may be useful because free air in the abdomen (indicating intestinal perforation) or distension of the small or large bowel is often evident Ultrasound, CT scan, or magnetic resonance imaging may be used to locate an abscess. 

White matter hyperintesities in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans reflecting cerebrovascnlar damage and brain hypoperfusion are more severe in ACE-D/D subjects (638). Association of ACE-D/D with vascular dementia has also been reported (615,639), although in some stndies no association of ACE-I/D indel variant with vascnlar dementia was fonnd (640).
