Magnetic and transport properties of metal

The overall changes in magnetic and transport properties of metal-ammonia solutions from the dilute to concentrated regimes are shown in Fig. 4. [Pg.142]

This chapter reviews the available knowledge of the bulk magnetic and transport properties of the rare earth metals with a particular emphasis on the ways in which these macroscopic properties may be interpreted to improve our understanding of the fundamental microscopic interactions. The review comprises five basic components in section 2 we discuss the magnetization and susceptibility of these metals followed by their magnetic anisotropy in section 3 and magnetostriction in section 4. Section 5 considers the electrical resistivity, whilst section 6 deals with magnetoresistance and the Hall effect. [Pg.413]

Nanosized metals are characterized by novel thermodynamic, chemical, catalytic, optical, magnetic, and transport properties which are much different from those of corresponding massive metals. For this reason a 3-D periodic table of elements has been frequently proposed by chemists working in this material science field (36). [Pg.4984]

Magnetic and transport properties have been measured by Deakin et al. (2001) for the series of ternary rare-earth antimonides ReGes- Sbn+x (R = La-Nd, Sm, Gd-Dy) (table 56). All are metallic, with the members containing R, other than La, displaying kinks in their resistivity vs temperature curves. Tb and Dy containing compounds exhibit Kondo-like behavior with resistivity minima occurring at 10 and 150 K, respectively. The /JeGes- Sbn+x (R = Ce-... [Pg.133]
