Magnetic and transport properties

In this article, we describe and summarize our studies on the structural, magnetic,and transport properties of buckytubes. In addition, we describe how a conventional arc discharge can be modified into a stable glow discharge for the efficient synthesis of well-aligned buckytubes. 

Since the As antisite is anyway one of the most important defects acting as the compensating donor, the excess As influences substantially the magnetic and transport properties of (Ga,Mn)As. The increase of substrate temperature and the decrease of the As pressure reduces the density of excess As, which result in a decrease of the lattice constant and an increase in both the hole concentration and conductivity. Importantly, this generates a raise of 7c (Shimizu et al. 1999), confirming the critical role of band holes in the ferromagnetism of (Ga,Mn)As. The annealing of (Ga,Mn)As at relatively low temperatures ( 300 K) leads to similar results due to the evaporation of excess As (Hayashi et al. 2001 Potashnik et al. 2001). 

In summary, the magnetic and transport properties of the (Lai ),R),)o.7Cao.3Mn03 per-ovskites near the O -O phase boundary are extraordinarily sensitive to the tolerance factor t, the oxygen mass M0, temperature, and pressure as well as to magnetic and electric fields. This sensitivity can be attributed to strong electron-lattice coupling associated with not only order-... 

The overall changes in magnetic and transport properties of metal-ammonia solutions from the dilute to concentrated regimes are shown in Fig. 4.

As we have stated, the amount of experimental data on Ce compounds had already reached the critical mass to allow us, at present, to correlate some apparently independent systems. However, as the experimental information grows, the need for a more thorough condensation of the information becomes apparent. In that sense we see that the literature is richer in theoretical reviews (see, e.g., Newns and Read 1987, Fulde 1988, Schlottmann 1989) than in experimental ones. It is therefore necessary to have more experimental reviews concerning, e.g., the magnetic and transport properties, in order to increase the applications of the theoretical models to real systems.
