Magnesium-free derivatives

Abstract Magnesium porphyrazines substituted with eight (phenyl-propene) groups on the peripheral positions have been prepared by cyclotetramerization of l,2-bis(3-phenyl-2-propenethio) maleonitrile and then achieved porphyrazine by 3-bromo-l-phenyl-l-propene. Metal-free derivative was obtained by its treatment with trifluoroacetic acid. The new compounds have been characterized by FT-IR, H-NMR, UV-VIS and elemental analysis methods. [Pg.389]

In a few eutrophic waters, absorbance due to pigments derived from algae or other microorganisms may become consequential. Chlorophylls and their degradation products are readily detectable because of their characteristic absorbance and fluorescence spectra. For example, chlorins (magnesium-free, tetrapyrrolic derivatives of chlorophyll) were detected in Mackenzie River (Canada) water at concentrations of up to 1(X) ng/L (Peake et al., 1972) and in other, more contaminated waters these classes of compounds may occur at higher levels. [Pg.375]

About 0-1 per cent, of hydroquinone should be added as a stabiliser since n-hexaldehyde exhibits a great tendency to polymerise. To obtain perfectly pure n-/iexaldehyde, treat the 21 g. of the product with a solution of 42 g. of sodium bisulphite in 125 ml. of water and shake much bisulphite derivative will separate. Steam distil the suspension of the bisulphite compound until about 50 ml. of distillate have been collected this will remove any non-aldehydic impurities together with a little aldehyde. Cool the residual aldehyde bisulphite solution to 40-50 , and add slowly a solution of 32 g. of sodium bicarbonate in 80 ml. of water, and remove the free aldehyde by steam distillation. Separate the upper layer of n-hexaldehyde, wash it with a little water, dry with anhydrous magnesium sulphate and distil the pure aldehyde passes over at 128-128-5°. [Pg.322]

Fast Color Salts. In order to simplify the work of the dyer, diazonium salts, in the form of stable dry powders, were introduced under the name of fast color salts. When dissolved in water they react like ordinary diazo compounds. These diazonium salts, derived from amines, free from solubilizing groups, are prepared by the usual method and are salted out from the solutions as the sulfates, the metallic double salts, or the aromatic sulfonates. The isolated diazonium salt is sold in admixture with anhydrous salts such as sodium sulfate or magnesium sulfate. [Pg.445]

Abstract Bis(3-methylbutantio) maleonitril has been obtained from the reaction of disodium salt, l-bromo-3 methylbiitan in acetone under nitrogen for 11 hours. MgPz has been synthesized through the cyclotetramerization reaction of magnesium and n-butanol with bis(3-methylbutantio) maleonitril. The metal free pophyrazine derivative was obtained by its treatment with trifluroacetic acid and further reaction of this product with cobalt(II) acetate, nickel(II) acetate and zinc(II) acetate led to the metal porphyrazine (MPz, M = Co, Ni ve Zn). These new compounds have been investigated and characterized by UV, FT-IR, H NMR, GC-MS and elemental analysis methods. [Pg.375]

MAGNESiUM SALiCYLATE A sodium free salicylate derivative that may have a low incidence of Gl upset. The product labeling and dosage are expressed as magnesium salicylate anhydrous. The possibility of magnesium toxicity exists in people with renal insufficiency. [Pg.911]

Double-tail derivatives were sometimes prepared by short syntheses thus, dithioacetals 9 were obtained by condensation of a free carbohydrate with the corresponding -alkanethiol [50] whereas the 6,6-di-O-alkyl derivatives 29 were synthesized by the reaction of alkyl magnesium bromide with l,2 3,4-di-0-iso-propylidene-D-galacturonic acid [62]. [Pg.290]
