Magnesia cement

Asbestos cement, 1.2 85% magnesia cement, 0.05 asbestos and rockwool cement, 0.075 approx. "Marks, Mechanical Engineers Handbook, 4tb ed., McGraw-Hill, New York, 1941. [Pg.379]

Concentrated, aqueous solutions of ZnCla dissolve starch, cellulose (and therefore cannot be filtered through paper ), and silk. Commercially ZnCla is one of the important compounds of zinc. It has applications in textile processing and, because when fused it readily dissolves other oxides, it is used in a number of metallurgical fluxes as well as in the manufacture of magnesia cements in dental fillings. Cadmium halides are used in the preparation of electroplating baths and in the production of pigments. [Pg.1211]

Steinholz, n. xylolith (magnesia cement mixed with sawdust or the like). [Pg.427]

Sources. From manufacture of refractory crucibles, fire bricks, magnesia cements, boiler scale compounds... [Pg.429]

Magnesia cement is largely composed of magnesium oxide (MgO). In practice, the MgO is mixed with fillers and rocks and an aqueous solution of magnesium chloride. This cement sets up (hardens) within 2-8 h and is employed for flooring in special circumstances. [Pg.386]

Sodium bisulfate is used for pickhng metals bleaching leather carbonizing wool in carbonic acid baths, and manufacturing magnesia cements... [Pg.857]

When manufacturing chlorate explosives, it is of extreme importance to observe the safety code which demands the highest possible purity, the removal of all chlorate dust settling on furniture, clothes etc. The workers foot-wear should be wooden soled, since nails in soles not infrequently cause accidents. The floor in the premises should be covered with linoleum or magnesia cement. [Pg.521]

Magnesia cement exhibits, even when dry, a considerable electrical conductivity. As a result flooring produced from it does not exhibit static charging. [Pg.412]

Use Calcination of lime, magnesia, cement, ores, etc., and for incinerating gaseous, liquid, and solid wastes. [Pg.729]

Use Flux for decomposing minerals substitute for sulfuric acid in dyeing disinfectant manufacture of sodium hydrosulfide, sodium sulfate, and soda alum liberating C02 in carbonic acid baths, in thermophores carbonizing wool manufacture of magnesia cements, paper, soap, perfumes, foods, industrial cleaners, metal pickling compounds lab reagent. [Pg.1138]

USE Fusion of minerals to make them so] for analysis for liberating CO. in carbonic acid baths. Technical grades are used for pickling metals, carbonizing woo], bleaching and swelling leather, manuf magnesia cements, etc. [Pg.1357]
