Machinery whole body vibration

Where the som-ce of the vibration cannot be removed, protection from whole body vibrations can be provided by placing the persons in a vibration isolated environment. This may be achieved by mounting a control room on vibration isolators in such areas as the steel industry, or simply having isolated seating such as on agricultural machinery. 

Vibration is a harmful physical agent present in various day-to-day industrial activities, because workers are submitted to vibrations located at the extremities (also called hand and arm- or end vibration) and whole-body vibration. This agent is an intrinsic feature of heavy vehicles and agricultural machinery, such as tractors, and its transmission to the body and the operator s members, occurs if the operator is in contact with the seats of vehicles, and also through the steering wheel, pedals and control levers. 

BS/EN/ISO 11064-6 2005 does not specify minimum criteria for objectively measurable vibration. Many standards do indeed refer to vibration but this typically takes the form of whole or part body vibration of the sort caused by operating machinery or vehicles.
