Lung injury chronic, models

One potential hurdle to gene transfer approaches for pulmonary edema is effective airway delivery of vector to an edematous lung. However, it has recently been demonstrated that administration of adenoviral vector in a 50 50 surfactant saline mixture enhanced gene delivery in a rat model of acute pulmonary edema (70). The use of perfluorochemical liquids during vector administration may also be useful for gene delivery in the setting of pulmonary edema and acute and chronic lung injury (59,151). [Pg.438]
