Applications of lock stitches include seaming operations on all types of garments and run stitching. Lock stitch is extensively used for joining fabrics collar, cuff, pocket, sleeve, facing etc. Lockstitch type 301 is the simplest, which is shaped from the needle thread and the bobbin thread (Figure 10.9). [Pg.252]

Stitches in this class are sometimes referred to as double-locked stitches, because the needle thread is interconnected with two loops of the under-thread. Applications of multi-thread chain stitches are seaming operations on all types of garments. [Pg.254]

Once in position, the nephrostomy tube is secured in position. Securing the catheter begins with placement of a 3-0 Ethicon suture that is tied tightly in a criss-cross pattern over the catheter shaft. This creates a locking stitch that tightens when outward tension is applied. A retention device is then adhered to the skin to secure the drainage catheter. Care is taken to avoid an excessively tight skin suture, which can cause discomfort and skin necrosis. [Pg.477]

The requirements to the seams and preform structures define the usage of various stitch types. In general, chain stitches and lock stitches are well known in the garment as well as in the composite industry. Also, one-sided stitches (OSS ), blind stitches, and tufting can be helpful in 3D preform assembling. The modified lock stitch is advantageous in most of the stitching operations. [Pg.216]

Unlike the double lock stitch, the looper thread for the double-chain stitch (Fig. 10.6) is fed from a supply reel on the reel stand over guiding and thread-tightening elements to the thread-guiding gripper. The different phases of the interlacing of needle thread and bobbin thread by a double-chain stitch are as follows ... [Pg.291]
