Loading well

Add buffer to electrode chambers of the electrophoresis apparatus. Set up the electrodes so that the positive pole is opposite the loaded wells. Run the electrophoresis at 60 V for 40 min. [Pg.485]

Biological treatment systems do not handle shock loads well. That probably won t be a problem because you are dealing with a soil system and not a liquid system, but the principles are the same. It will take longer and substantially more work to degrade higher eoneentrations of materials in the soils. [Pg.204]

Clean acrylamide residue from the loading well with TBE buffer. [Pg.203]

FIGURE 10.12 Chip design for protein separation. The wells are shown in light gray. Well D4 is the SDS dilution well and is connected to both sides of the dilution intersection. Wells A4 and C4 are the separation buffer and waste wells, and B4 and D3 are used as load wells. All other wells contain samples [1034]. Reprinted with permission from the American Chemical Society. [Pg.351]

If the pile is a hollow tube, fitted with a bottom plate that stays in place when the pile is withdrawn, sand can be added and compacted during withdrawal, creating a sand pile capable of carrying a significant load. Well graded gravel or crushed stone may also be used in place of sand. [Pg.106]

Load wells of precast gels with 2.5 pi of sample (4 x 10 cells) for antiphospho PKB substrate antibody and 5 pi (8 x lO cells) for antiphospho PDK docking motif antibody and antiphospho PKC (pan) antibody. [Pg.265]

As we saw in the preceding discussion, several mechanical parameters can be derived from stress-strain tests. Two of these parameters are of particular significance from a design viewpoint. These are strength and stiffness. For some applications, the ultimate tensile strength is the useful parameter, but most polymer products are loaded well below their breaking points. Indeed, some polymers deform excessively before rupture and this makes them unsuitable for use. Therefore, for most polymer applications, stiffness (resistance to deformation under applied load) is the parameter of prime importance. Modulus is a measure of stiffness. We will now consider how various structural and environmental factors affect modulus in particular and other mechanical properties in general. [Pg.369]

Subsequent analysis suggested that the cold trap had not always been operated in the most efficient maimer. Attempts to trap impurities too rapidly had led to the use of too large a differential between the actual sodium temperature and the impurity saturation temperature. The overcooled sodium precipitated its impurity burden preferentially at the bottom of the vessel and on the outer surfaces of the mesh doughnuts, so that the trap rapidly became blocked with an impurity loading well below the expected maximum. Modified operating techniques and led to improved loading and the final cold trap basket trapped in excess of 140 kg of mixed oxide and hydride. [Pg.22]

Material capability to resist loads well beyond the elastic limit and Reluctance of designers to use and/or competent authorities to approve materials that have abrupt failure thresholds as a result of melting or fracturing in environments likely to occur in transport. [Pg.192]
