Loading limits

The actual weight that the truck can cany in the United States depends on state-highway load limits, which in turn depend on the net vehicle weight and the number of axles on the tnu (and tractor, when a trailer arrangement is used). The accepted maximum combined total weight of vehicle and cargo is 36,200 kg (80,000 lb). In some states, this is reduced slightly, while in others it is exceeded.

Late in the field life it is desirable to compress the 100 MMscfd for the example field downstream of the separator from 800 psig at 100°F to l.(XX) psig. An engine-driven separable compressor is available from surplus. The engine is rated for 1,600 hp at 900 rpm. Horsepower is proportional to speed. The compressor frame has six 7-in, bore by 6.0-in. stroke double-acting cylinders with a minimum clearance of 17.92%, a rod load limit of 25,000 lb, and rod diameter of 1.75 in. Assume k = 1.26, Z, -0.88, and Zd = 0.85. 

The calculated rod load for both the compression and tension modes are within the 25,000-lb maximum rod load limit.

A further complication is that as exit-gas temperatures rise, the volume of air and flue gas passing through the stack increases, and this can cause load limitations and a further reduction in efficiency. 

In addition to the properties noted above, the formulation parameter in iPP-E-plastomer blends have a profound influence on the dynamic loading (e.g., vibration) performance. The load limits of the blend for applications in which dynamic stresses are predominant were studied by using the hysteresis measurement method. However, their technical application requires knowledge of critical load values.

The loading capacity of SEC columns is quite modest compared to interactive modes of chromatography. A rule of thumb dictates that the sample volume capacity is about 2% of the column volume. A typical analytical SEC column with dimensions of 8 x 300 mm has a VM of 10 to 11 ml, providing a sample volume limit of about 200 pi. The mass loading limit for such a column is about 1 to 2 mg. Above these volume and mass limits, resolution will be compromised. Sample capacity will scale in proportion to column volumes for different column lengths and diameters. 

The premises have now been provided for calculating the operation limits (i.e., the highest possible flow rates of a countercurrent column). This is reached as soon as no further increase of the flow rate can be performed by the density difference. The consequence is that the light phase leaves the column at the bottom instead of at the top and the opposite situation for the heavy phase (see Fig. 9.1). This load limit is also called the flooding point.
