LLDPE film

Optical Properties. Owing to the high crystallinity of HDPE, most thick-waHed articles made from HDPE resins are opaque. Significant surface roughness can also add to the opacity. Thin HDPE film, in contrast, is translucent, but its transparency is significantly lower than that of LDPE or LLDPE film. The ultraviolet transmission limit of HDPE is around 230 nm.

Film. By far the largest appHcation for LLDPE resins (over 60% in the United States) is film. Because LLDPE film has high tensile strength and puncture resistance, it is able to compete with HDPE film for many uses. The toughness and low temperature properties of LLDPE film also exceed those of conventional LDPE. Furthermore, because LLDPE resins exhibit relatively low strain hardening in the molten state and lower extensional viscosity, it can be produced at high rates with Httle risk of bubble breaks. 

Use of 4-methylpentene-l comonomer with ethylene provides LLDPE resin have film properties (i.e., tensile strength, modulus, transverse direction tear strength, and impact strength) superior to 1-butene-based LLDPE resin as has been claimed by B.P. Chemicals. 1-Butene has also been used as the second comonomer with 4-methylpentene-l to tailor the properties of LLDPE resin [28], The properties of 4-methylpentene-l-based LLDPE film are given in Table 4. 

Nonvolatile compounds cannot be analysed unless pyrolysis or derivatisation converts them to a condition amenable to GC. Derivatisation GC (or LC) has been used for several components such as erucamide (imidi-sation for volatility), fatty amines (aromatic amidation for UV detectability), and polyethylene oxides (esterification for both volatility and detectability) [178]. The surface concentration of erucamide on extruded LLDPE films was determined quantitatively by surface washings with ether, followed by evaporation, dissolution...

Film is the third most important application for HDPE resins accounting for nearly 15% of the total HDPE market. Its share of the market is increasing rapidly as it gradually replaces paper and glass and competes with LLDPE film for many uses.

LLDPE films. However, the transverse direction (TD) strength of a film produeed with ExxonMobil Exceed mLLDPE is signifieantly higher than the TD strength of conventional LLDPE and much closer to the MD value of LLDPE. The ultimate tensile improvements of ExxonMobil Exceed mLLDPE are realized at all densities, with up to 40% better tensile strength than conventional LLDPE at the same den-sities.f ]... 

General Description Polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) resin is a copolymer of vinylidene chloride (VDC) with vinyl chloride or other monomers and is used as a coating over DuPont Teijin Films Mylar films. Enhance Packaging Technologies Sclairfihn BL LLDPE Film, Dartek B-601 and B-602, nylon 66, and PVDC coated nylon. The PVDC coating provides the film with excellent oxygen-and moisture-barrier properties.
