Lithium zirconium phosphate

Appreciable ionic conductivity is found in open framework or layered materials containing mobile cations (see Ionic Conductors). Several phosphates have been found to be good ionic conductors and are described above NASICON (Section 5.2.1), a-zirconium phosphates (Section 5.3.1), HUP (Section 5.3.3), and phosphate glasses (Section 5.4). Current interest in lithium ion-conducting electrolytes for battery apphcations has led to many lithium-containing phosphate glasses and crystalline solids such as NASICON type titanium phosphate being studied. ... [Pg.3639]

In a d.c. experiment on monolithium salts of a-zirconium phosphate by Skou et al a difference between the a.c. and d.c. conductivities developed during the experiment and the d.c. conductivity ended one order of magnitude below the a.c. conductivity. The difference did not relax more than 10% within a period of 4 h after the d.c. load was removed. This was taken as an indication of simultaneous proton and lithium ion conduction and was proved by the Hittorf experiment described earlier. [Pg.430]

Similar structural features are found in the two polymorphs of LiZr2(P04)3 that are accessed if the sample is prepared by heating at 900 °C. Such a preparation leads to the formation of P-LiZr2(P04)3 with an orthorhombic structure containing a complex distribution of lithium. As in the a- and a -LiZr2(P04)3 polymorphs the zirconium phosphate framework is fully ordered. However, in P-LiZr2(P04)3 the lithium cations partially occupy two crystallographically distinct sites that are... [Pg.159]
