Burners lighting

Before lighting burners in a piece of fired equipment that has been idle or offline for any time or whose burners have become extinguished during operation, it is vital to first purge the firebox of hydrocarbons and combustibles or explosive mixtures. The solvents, also, are volatile and extremely flammable. Always measure quantities in a hood. No lighted burners or flames should be in the vicinity of your work. In case of fire, use a C02 extinguisher. [Pg.311]

Light each pilot or burner in the same manner as the first one. Never light one burner from another to do so invites explosion. Increase the fuel gas flow with the control valve or control valve bypass to maintain steady gas pressure and stable flames. Inspect the firebox frequently.
