Certain types of equipment are specifically excluded from the scope of the directive. It is self-evident that equipment which is already regulated at Union level with respect to the pressure risk by other directives had to be excluded. That is the case with simple pressure vessels, transportable pressure equipment, aerosols and motor vehicles. Other equipment, such as carbonated drink containers or radiators and piping for hot water systems are excluded from the scope because of the limited risk involved. Also excluded are products which are subject to a minor pressure risk which are covered by the directives on machinery, lifts, low voltage, medical devices, gas appliances and on explosive atmospheres. A further and last group of exclusions refers to equipment which presents a significant pressure risk, but for which neither the free circulation aspect nor the safety aspect necessitated their inclusion. [Pg.941]

Bucket Elevators. In a bucket elevator, a series of buckets attached to an endless belt or chain are filled with material and lifted vertically to a head pulley or sprocket, where the material is dumped. The buckets are then returned back down to a tail pulley or sprocket at the bottom. Bucket elevators are not self-feeding. They must be fed at a controlled rate to avoid overfilling the buckets and damagiag the machinery. In the usual arrangement of a bucket elevator, the chain or belt path is vertical or steeply inclined ia a single plane. Special chain supported bucket systems that can travel ia two and three planes have been developed. [Pg.158]

You will need to ensure that all plant and equpment (eg lift trucks, vehicles, gas appliances, machinery guarding, ladders, electrical equipment, lifting equipment, air receivers, ventilation plant) that requires maintenance (eg pre-shift checks, servicing, thorough examinations) is identified and that the maintenance is done. [Pg.7]

The dry ice blaster is an effective and mess-free method for in-place cleaning that eliminates the need to disassemble machinery before it is cleaned. Compressed air propels tiny dry ice pellets at supersonic speeds so they flash freeze and then lift grime, paint, rust, mold, and other contaminants from metal surfaces. Pellets vaporize quickly into the air, leaving no wastewater or solvents, only the soiled contaminant to be swept up. [Pg.176]

The baseplate shall be provided with lifting lugs for at least a four-point lift. Lifting the baseplate, complete with all equipment mounted, shall not permanently distort or otherwise damage the baseplate or the machinery mounted on it. [Pg.46]

Thai let the Neophyte again conufo the whole body, ai one orfurinn—the wonderful instrument of the Ego, adapted for physical lift But let him fully realize that this wonderful machinery ia but a created. m cKint in and through which the Efo manifests physical life and activity. And, that the Ego ii above, independent of and apart from the physical body, in the true rase—for it may dwell apart from, and out of the body. [Pg.14]

Fig. 12.9 Indirect control of transcription by cyclin-Cdks involves interactions of transcription fector E2F with the tumour suppressors p53 and pRB. Cyclin D- and cyclin E-associated kinases phosphorylate pRB and lift the biock of transcription. Appropriate changes of the phosphorylation state of p53 improve the specificity of DNA binding arxj promote the transcriptional activity of E2F. This effect is amplified by phosphorylation of p53 by cyiin A-Cdkl. (Cyclin H/Cdk7/CAK and cyclin C/Cdk8 complexes can activate transcription directly, by association with the basal transcription machinery and phosphorylation of RNA polymerase II, Pol II see also Chapters 9 and 10). The flotation process used by Matsunaga and Tsuya involves floating fine molybdenum disulphide powder on the surface of a liquid, and lifting it off onto the surface of a flat metal plate. After the liquid is removed by draining and drying, a weakly-adherent thin uniform film of the powder is left on the metal surface. The film appears to consist of randomly-oriented crystals, and has been extensively used for research purposes, but not for use in practical machinery. [Pg.66]
