Lifting index

The lifting index (LI) provides a relative estimate of the physical stress associated with a manual lifting job and is equal to the load weight divided by the RWL. According to Waters et al. (1994), the RWL and LI can be used to guide ergonomic design in several ways ...

Indices have been developed to express the instability of the environment in quantitative terms. An example is the lifted index, the computation of which is illustrated in Fig. 5 for an environment typical of that in which tomadic thunderstorms form. The NIOSH equation determines the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL) as from six reduction factors from the constant of load. It is the Lifting Index (LI) that determines and quantifies the risk of musculoskeletal injury.

In using a bottom load case packer for a packaging operation, the containers are accumulated and unitized into the selected case pattern. As the unitized load is indexed onto the lift platform, a case blank is unfolded from the case magazine over the product. The lift platform raises the product into the opened case. The case is indexed out of the loading area and is top and bottom sealed by a hot melt glue system. The bottom load case packer is the best type of case packer for containers that require stacking, pads, or automatic case insertion. 

Several strategies were appUed to produce samples for TEM and kinetic studies [8, 21], but only one route is presented here (Fig. 15.3). Noble metal nanoparticles were grown via metal evaporation on a crystalline soluble substrate (e.g., NaCl(OOl)), leading to an epitaxial growth of particles with regular shape and well-developed low-Miller index facets (Fig. 15.3). Thereafter, the metal particles were embedded in a thin (25 nm) amorphous oxide fdm, before the metal-oxide system was lifted off the substrate via flotation in water [8, 18, 20, 31]. 

Procedure Fill one graduated cylinder with 50 ml of water (it models the amount of substance before equilibrium sets in), the other cylinder remains empty (no product initially). Hold two identical glass tubes (8 mm) in both hands, dip into both cylinders, close with index finger, lift out and transport the portion of water into the other cylinder. Repeat this procedure as many times as necessary until the water volumes in both cylinders no longer change. Repeat this experiment with glass tubes of different diameters. 

As it concerns the intermediate part of the curve, it is more lifted than a two-layered curve with the same index. Since ctj > CT2 > CTs, the presence of the invasion zone usually causes a significant increase of the apparent conductivity with respect to a two-layered model and therefore it requires the application of longer probes for the determination of the conductivity of a formation, 0%.
