Levels of interventions

Stepped-up care. Matching the level of intervention to the level of need.

These seven levels help to identify patterns in risk and safety and can aid in directing the appropriate level of intervention. Vincent also suggests four diagnostic questions for choosing safety interventions (see Raef, 2002, p. 3) ... 

A justification of the level of intervention in the normal operation of the system to observe its behaviour during the testing. 

Such epidemiological studies entail cohorts with moderately elevated PbB with no history of chelation treatment or undefined earlier exposures. Children sustaining excessive exposures above medical guidelines during such serial studies would be removed. By contrast, high-risk children presenting with PbB levels requiring that same level of intervention appear to show that maximum or peak Pb is the exposure metric with the closest association with toxic effects (Chisolm, 1982 Chisolm and Harrison, 1956). 

We can picture these different models in the form of a framework (figure 1), which depicts three different levels of intervention in risk control. 

Matrix of tasks In order to structure the discussions and thinking about the role of the inspectorate a simple framework was used (Hale et al 1992). This distinguished three levels of operation of risk control, which can be mapped onto the levels of intervention in figure 1 of Hopkins and Hale s introductory chapter (the words in brackets make the link) ... 

The objective of these analyses is to search for genetic markers that modify the effect produced by a particular type of intervention, which epidemiologists refer to as an effect modifier. These markers are parameterized in our models as gene-intervention interactions. Working with a target and, thus, obtaining a results focus means that stakeholders who must contribute to the policy execution are allocated for each policy action. If we examine road safety strategies, this is often the case. A strategy is translated into concrete policy interventions and each intervention in itself must lead to execution for which stakeholders bear the responsibility. In this approach, tuning and cooperation take place at the level of interventions or measures. See, for example, the approach used in Ireland (RSA, 2007).

The CDM decision framework, as set out in this Chapter, and summarised in Figure 6, provides a generic basis for the systematic consideration, review and co-ordination of health and safety measures under the CDM Regulations, at strategic, operational and tactical levels of intervention. 

Figure 12.3 depicts a multiple intervention level (MIL) hierarchy (adapted from Geller, 1998a). It summarizes the important points about different levels of intervention impact and intrusiveness and illustrates the need to multiply the niunber of intervention agents as the level of intensity and intrusiveness increases. 

While evaluation efforts have been implemented to assess all three levels of intervention, the most comprehensive efforts were focused upon the impact of intensive wraparound services. As part of the evaluation, caregivers complete the BERS (Epstein Sharma, 1998) at intake and every 6 months thereafter. 

This possibility is conditional upon the processing speed of the expert system or on its level of intervention.
