The same algorithm was used to calibrate flame photometers and blood analyte analysers for Na, K and Ca determination. The results of calibrating such instruments are also presented in Table 1. Instrument 6 was an ion selective electrode analyser for Na/K/Cl with a 1.5% coefficient of variation at a 95% confidence interval. True value (of a quantity) a value, which characterises a quantity perfectly defined, under the conditions which exist when that quantity is considered [1]. The vocabulary of legal metrology gives a definition of the true value which makes a direct reference to the measurement a value which would be obtained by measurement, if the quantity could be completely defined and if all measurement imperfections could be eliminated [3].
