The second issue is that of mixing Pb-free and Sn-Pb solder. This situation would be less likely to occur with newly fabricated product, when repair and rework procedures are performed immediately after assembly inspection. The same solder would be used for both processes. Rather, the concern arises particularly with regard to the rework of legacy products that are returned from service. Older, field-return electronics were most likely assembled with a Sn-Pb solder. In those cases where Pb-free rework procedures are in full use, there is the likelihood of intermixing Sn-Pb and Pb-free solders in the interconnections. In terms of the rework process itself, the poorer solderability of Pb-free solders will be improved by Sn-Pb residues remaining on the circuit board pads. (The I/O finish of the replacement component wUl likely be Pb-free, unless the component was in storage as a life-of-program-buy [LoPB] for that system. Then, the Sn-Pb finish on the I/O will also improve Pb-free solderability.)... [Pg.961]

Closely related to the Leontief approach is the theoretical legacy of Sraffa s Production of Commodities by Means of Commodties (1960). De Vivo (2003 1) has shown that the starting point for Sraffa s production model has been derived... from Marx s reproduction schemes . In the... [Pg.16]

This is particularly true at this time in the evolution of our profession. As we globally embrace the precepts of pharmaceutical care, as we find an appropriate balance between knowing our products, our patients and their disease states, it is increasingly critical to constantly review new findings as well as legacy principles. One way of doing that is self-assessment. [Pg.433]

In the distribution of elements and isotopes that make up the Solar System, we are seeing the legacy of the stars. In the general economy of the Universe, stars play the role of conscientious craftsmen. Viewed purely in terms of productivity, they can be considered as heavy-element factories. In this respect, supernovas are of paramount importance. [Pg.62]

The legacy aqueous thermodynamic solubility model is an in-house linear regression model consisting of 11 calculated descriptors which include cLogP and polar surface area. This is the model that was used to shape the property profile of the virtual products. This model has now been superseded by a Cubist (48) thermodynamic solubility model (R2 =... [Pg.207]

Legacy systems Production computer systems that are operating on older computer hardware or are based on older software applications. In some cases, the vendor may no longer support the hardware or software. [Pg.181]

The Sample is analyzed at the laboratory (Step 5), and in the course of analysis it often ceases to exist (Step 6), being completely used up in the analytical procedure. Step 5 conceals many dangers for the Sample s wellbeing, for laboratory mistakes in preparation or analysis may threaten the production of the desired data and render the Sample useless. If not completely used up during analysis, the Sample nevertheless expires (Step 6) when it reaches the limit of its holding time as prescribed by the analytical method. The Sample thus reaches the end of its life and is discarded. However, its spirit is reincarnated in the form of chemical data (Step 7). In the afterlife of the Sample, chemical data becomes the Sample s alter ego and acquire a life of their own. Whether they are valid or invalid, the chemical data are the Sample s immortal legacy and a testimony to our ability to plan and execute environmental projects. [Pg.5]
