Leakage direct

The Palaeocene condensates are unlikely to be the result of petroleum leakage directly from the Pre-Cretaceous reservoirs. The pre-Cretaceous petroleums are waxy, highly mature thermal condensates, whereas the Palaeocene fluids are the least mature petroleums reservoired in J Block. 

Primary containment is provided by the vessels and pipework of the treatment system. The system is designed to operate at pressures only slightly above atmospheric this minimises the rate of loss in the event of a leak. Secondary containment is provided by the building stmcture of the Nuclear Island. The gaseous radwaste system will be located internally, with no points where there could be leakage directly to external environment. Further details of the system are provided in the Environment Report (Section 3.3), and the EDCD section 11.3, (Reference 14.2). 

It is suggested though that even more precise sizing of cracks with complex cross-sections and unknown shapes could be achieved using the distribution of the leakage magnetic field along two lines positioned above the surface of the sample and parallel to the direction of the applied field at the same distance from the centre of the crack and from its closer end.

Three examples of ordinaiy gas seals are shown in Fig. 12-61. On direct rotary dryers, few gas seals are intended to be completely gastight, but by careful control of the internal pressure, generally Between 0.25 and 2.5 mm of water below atmosphere, dusting to the outside is prevented and in-leakage of outside air is minimized.

One slot was cut directly above the blade passage emplacement. The other slot was sealed off to prevent leakage. As the disc was lowered into close proximity to the blade tips, the blade passage was completed. The clearance between disc and blade was kept at 0.035 of an inch. The disc, when spun from above, acted as the rotating shroud.
