Layers displays

Thin epitaxial layers display a rich variety of X-ray optical phenomena which can be exploited for materials characterisation. Superlattice structures in... [Pg.152]

From Deer, R. A., W. A. Howie, and J. Zussman (1963). Rock-Forming Minerals, Polylype = the crystallographic designation of the stacking order of tetranedral and Layers display 4.35-nm corregation periods. [Pg.29]

In Fig. 5, the relative sensor signals of one S-sensor and one R-sensor and an additional non-chiral SE-30 sensor upon exposure to enantiomeric mixtures of N-TFA-Ala-OMe are shown. The sensitive layers display stronger interactions between the S-analyte and the S-polymer or the R-analyte and the R-polymer than between the respective R-/S-pairs. [Pg.330]

The need of very diverse synthetic approaches to AuNPs arises either from the desire for a capping thiol layer displaying particular properties or from the intended use of the resulting NPs. It is thus necessary to modify classical methods and to develop new ones specifically for the case in study. For example, this has been accomplished for water-soluble nanoparticles using thiolated derivatives of PEG.163-167... [Pg.133]

The relaxation of deeper layers displays oscillatory behavior. Although many low Miller index surfaces exhibit strictly alternating relaxations (i.e. a... [Pg.8]

If now a second close-packed layer is superimposed as tightly as possible on the first, the spheres in the second layer will rest in one or other of these two sets of dimples, say the B s. (They could, of course, equally well occupy the dimples C, but it is clear that in an indefinitely extended structure no difference between these arrangements exists.) Each sphere in this second layer is now in contact with nine neighbours, six in its own layer and three in the layer beneath, and, as before, the upper surface of the layer displays two sets of dimples, now centred about A and C. Whereas, however, for a single layer these two sets would be indistinguishable, for the assemblage of two layers they are different the dimples A lie vertically above spheres in the first layer 6... [Pg.81]

Figure 4.33. A plot of the average walklength n)n versus the total number of lattice sites for a two-layer lattice subject to confining boundary conditions with the reaction center placed at the centrosymmetric site of the lower (basal) layer. Displayed are results for lattices of inplane coordination u = 3 (circles) and v = 6 (triangles). Figure 4.33. The admolecules in the first layer displayed in Figure 5.1.8 will diffuse around on the surface of the substrate until they desorb, join an existing cluster, or create a new nucleus. The creation of a new nucleus occurs when several molecules attach while diffusing on the substrate. Of course there is a complication in the fact that the free energy of a cluster with j molecules will be lowered for each particle taken from the vapor phase if it is thermodynamically favorable, but the free energy will... [Pg.351]

It is also possible to obtain crimped fibres by the split-fibre technology in a different way. If a laminated film is produced by extruding the raw material or raw materials in such a way that the layers display during stretching stress-strain curves which do not coincide, then a spontaneous crimp can be obtained immediately after fibrillation without additional thermal treatments of the fibres. It is, of course, necessary that the layers adhere well to each other. If both layers consist of polypropylene or copolymers of propylene, this is no problem. However, if different polymers are used, the adhesion is usually insufficient. [Pg.449]

Sun protection elements (aluminium and ETFE lamellae, or mobile textile membranes, cf. Fig. 6.6) can be integrated for further building-physics improvement in the clearance of dual-chamber systems with separate layers. In variants with a curved middle layer and decoupled volumes, and different pressures, the middle layer can assume the sun protection role. For this, the outer and middle foil layers display a print of inversely arranged patterns. The translucency of the cushions is controlled by adjusting the middle layer through pressure control of the two air-chambers. [Pg.192]

FIGURE 3.31 A comparison of the calculated proton concentration in Pt-NSTF layers, displayed as pH versus Ef, with that encountered in ionomer impregnated CLs. (Reprinted from Chan, K. and Eikerling, M. 2011. /. Electrochem. Soc., 158(1), B18-B28, Figures 1,2,3,4,5,6. Copyright (2011), the Electrochemical Society. With permission.)... [Pg.230]

The pressures in the first two layers display smooth, stable trends also, the expected pressure histories at both wells are qualitatively correct. [Pg.275]

This method to correct the if effect was also used by Li et al. [21] for the ORR. In their study, the thickness of the Nafion ionomer layer was calculated to be approximately 0.63 pm by assuming that the density of Nafion film is 2 g cm . Based on the assumption that the concentration and diffusion coefficients of oxygen in the Nafion layer displayed no remarkable difference between 1 M H2SO4 and alkaline solutions, if was calculated to be 57 mA cm ... [Pg.350]
