Last-in-first-out

The value of the inventory 7 at any given time depends on the values ascribed to the units withdrawn from inventoiy. There are five methods forvalmng inventoiy (I) FIFO (first-in-first-out), (2) LIFO (last-in-first-out), (3) average cost, (4) standard cost, and (5) market value.

Last in, first out (LIFO) The valuation of raw materials and supplies, meaning the last material into a process or storage is the first used or out.

The most frequent objective reason for a routine dismissal in practice is lack of work (arbetsbrist). The rule is last hired - first fired (i.e. last in - first out, LIFO). 

LIFO-FIFO valuation of raw material and supphes inventory is an important consideration for management. LIFO means last in, first out, referring to the purchase of materials inventory. FIFO means first in, first out. The method selected is reflected not only in the operating expenses but also in the income statement and the balance sheet. At different times it may be more advantageous financially to use one instead of the other.

For systematic search in a knowledge base, two strategies are feasible first, in-depth searching and second, in-breadth searching (Figure 8.3). In the case of in-depth search, new states (facts, rules) are positioned on the top of the logical chain, that is, the latest retrieved states are eliminated first (last-in/first-out) if they do not satisfy. In contrast, in the in-breadth search, the additional states are linked to the end of the chain. The initially tested rules are eliminated first (first-in/first-out).

Two kinds of simple lists are stacks and queues. A stack is a data store where both input and output occur at the same location the general name for such a place is a port. Stacks are characterized by last-in-first-out data handling. A queue is a two-port store characterized by first-in-first-out data handling. A queue is a more versatile data structure than a stack. A method for storing a queue in a fixed fast memory space uses circular wrapping of the data (modulo storage). There is another kind of linear list—a deque or double-ended queue, which has two ports.
