Laser film scanner

Imaging plates are exposed similar to radiographic films. They are read out by a LASER-scanner to a digital image without any developing process. After optical erasing of the virtual picture the same IP can be used cyclic up to more than 1000 times. The life time is limited by the mechanical stability of the IP s. An IP consists of a flexible polymer carrier which is coated with the sensitive layer. This layer is covered with a thin transparent protective foil. 

P ) The system BAS 2000 (bio-imaging analyser) from Fuji Film. The system included flexible IP s, in a 20 X 40 cm and 20 X 25 cm format (type BAS ni) and an IP without proteetive layer (BAS-TR2040). With the system s laser scanner (flat bed) one can read these IP s with a resolution of 100 pm or 200 pm and a digital dynamie of 8 or 10 bits. The system is not on the market anymore. 

Confocal laser scanning microscopy. A laser scanning confocal microscope system was used to analyze the microstructure of the fdm components and films A model IRBE (inverted) microscope (Leica Microsystems, Bannockburn, IL) with a universal stage and 20X objective lens was coupled to a TCS NT/SP scanner head (Leica Microsystems, Exton, PA). Sheets of samples or powders in MatTek dishes (MatTek Corp., Ashland, MA) were illuminated with the 488 nm line of an Argon laser and fluorescence was collected in one channel (520-580 nm) and reflection at 488 nm was collected in another. Fluorescence emission spectra for the sample powders of SFP and Pectin were collected in the range of 500-680 nm. 

The mask-making process consists of generating the pattern of the circuit on a chrome-covered quartz plate coated with a resist film. There are four types of equipment used in writing mask optical pattern generators, electron-beam writers, focused-ion-beam writers, and laser writers.
