Richard A. Larson (BA, Chemistry, University of Minnesota, 1963 PhD, Organic Chemistry, University of Illinois, 1968) has had extensive research experience over the past 20-l- years in the area of environmental chemistry. He has been author or coauthor of well over 100 papers, presentations, and reports in this period, including over 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts. In addition, he is the author, coauthor, or editor of three books. 

After postdoctoral appointments at Cambridge University and the University of Texas, Dr. Larson worked for several years at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. Since 1979, when he joined the faculty of the Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Illinois, Dr. Larson has held a joint appointment in the University s Department of Civil Engineering.
