Fig. 13.5. Structure of a specific EcoRV-DNA complex. The regions subjected to mutagenesis as described in Lanio et al (1998) are highlighted in red (amino acid residues 95 to 104), green (amino acid residues 180 to 184) and blue (amino acid residues 219 to 226). In B only the regions subjected to mutagenesis are displayed, together with the DNA. Fig. 13.5. Structure of a specific EcoRV-DNA complex. Cyclic voltammetry of LaNi03 in the presence of the hexacyanoferrate system and deconvolution of Faradaic and surface processes by means of the RRDE are depicted in Fig. 5. Steady-state results obtained for the hexacyanoferrate redox couple at LaNiO, in alkaline solutions were similar to those reported for La05Sr05CoO3 with very fast kinetics, comparable with the reaction on platinum electrodes, and convective-diffusional limiting currents which obey the Levich equation are observed close to the equilibrium potential (Fig. 5). [Pg.265]

If the BVS rule is not satisfied (i.e. when the BVS are not very near to the formal charges for the ions) this may indicate metastability. In LaNiOa.s, for example, BVS calculations give a lanthanum valence of -1-2.63 and valences of -1-2.20 and -1-2.13 for the octahedral and square planar nickel cations, respectively. Although the Ni cation prefers square planar coordination, this oxide readily takes up oxygen upon heating in undergoing a stmctural transition to the perovskite LaNiOs, where the BVS are -1-3.05 and -1-3.01 for lanthanum and nickel, respectively (Alonso et al., 1997). The following worked example illustrates how to use Eqs. 3.20 and 3.21 with Table 3.7. [Pg.160]

Le et al. (2006) employed "amorphous citrate" gel method to prepare single phase ceramic powders of LaNiOs with controlled grain size by thermal annealing. The target product was obtained at 650 °C with particle sizes from 30 to 65 ran at annealing temperatures from 650 to 750 °C, while the crystalline sized varied from 10 to 15 ran. Accordingly, a wide... [Pg.399]

Deviations from the ideal structure with orthorhombic, rhombohedral, tetragonal, monoclinic, and triclinic symmetry are known, althongh the latter three are scarce and poorly characterized. The cubic cell of LaAlOs, LaNiOs, or LaCoOs often has a small deformation from rhombohedral symmetry. The distorted stracture usually exists at room temperature, but transforms to a cubic structure at high temperature. [Pg.3393]

Nanostructured LaNiOs was prepared by co-precipitation under ultrasonic radiation [120], Using various characterization methods and evaluation of catalytic activity, the effects of ultrasound on the structural properties and catalytic activity of LaNiOs were studied. The TEM showed that the ultrasound could cause a decrease in the particle size. The average particle size of LaNiOs prepared by sonochemistry is 20 nm. The specific surface area of LaNiOs is 11.27 m g h Ultrasound could lead to increased surface oxide content and surface crystal oxygen vacancies. The TPR result showed that the LaNi03 prepared by sonochemistry has a lower reduction temperature and a higher ratio of surface oxygen to crystal oxygen. The evaluation of catalytic activity showed that ultrasound could increase the catalytic activity of LaNiOs for NO decomposition. [Pg.143]
