Ladder sloping

Precautions must also be taken to prevent falls due to openings, corners, breaks, edges, open joisting, holes in platforms for ladders, sloping roofs and work on or near fragile roof materials. 

The clearance for fixed ladders on the climbing side will range from a minimum of 36 in. (91 cm) on a 76° ladder slope to 30 in. (76 cm) on a 90° ladder slope. A clear way at least 15 in. (38 cm) on each side of the center line will be maintained, except where cages or wells are necessary. The clearance from the rung to the nearest object back will be at least 7 in. (179 cm).

Stability - there are many types of work equipment that might fall over, collapse or overturn unless they are fixed. Most machines used in a fixed position should be bolted down. Some types or work equipment such as mobile cranes may need counterbalance weights. The general aspects of the onset of the glassy zone are evidently semiquantitatively reproduced. However, the distinct difference in slope between theory and experiment for values of J and J less than 10 cm /dyne is apparent.
