Label parties

NSPE case studies are available on the Web (www.nspe.org). Read a case study involving conflict of interest and draw a clear PR diagram labeling parties and roles. In words, write the obligations of the roles that were at issue in the conflict. 

If you are looking for an enjoyable way to distribute your personal possessions ahead of time, you might consider throwing a label party. It works like this Invite your children (or perhaps special friends) to your home for a party. Provide a stack of gummed labels with invitee names printed on them. After preliminary instructions, ask them to work out, through discussion, who wants what property you wish to pass along. Once agreements have been reached, they can place their label on each item (where it cannot be seen). After the party, you can enjoy their choices and back up their selections with a list. 

Wind Resistance. Asphalt shingles are certified to wind performance test standards on a continuous basis through independent third-party testing laboratories. Shingles that have passed the standard wind performance requirements, such as ASTM D3161, Standard Test Method for Wind Resistance for Asphalt Shingles, are identified by labels from the testing laboratory with whom they are in compliance. 

The prime need is to discover the realities under the labels, i.e. the deeds, activities or things which the other fellow is talking about. Once these are understood accurate communication can take place whether the labels are agreed on or not. In contrast, if communication is purely through labels, it is easy to be deluded into believing there is understanding despite the fact that each of the parties literally does not know what the other fellow is talking about.

The guilty party is the triose phosphate isomerase (TIM) reaction that interconverts DHAP and G3P. To be converted to pyruvate, the DHAP first has to be converted to G3P. TIM just moves the carbonyl group between the two carbons that don t have phosphate attached. TIM doesn t touch the phosphate. So, if the DHAP is labeled at the carbon that has the phosphate attached, the G3P that comes from DHAP will be labeled at the carbon with the phosphate attached. The carbon with the phosphate attached in the G3P that was produced directly by the aldolase reaction came from C-6 of glucose, but the carbon with the phosphate attached in the G3P that was produced from DHAP came from C-l of glucose. After TIM does it stuff, the carbon of G3P that has the phosphate will be... 

Developing label statements on disposal that are Informative and fully supported by sound data will take time but the effort Is expected to be well worth Aille. Preparation of guidelines Is underway by EPA and Input from any and all Interested parties will be most welcome.
